Education beyond achievement.
At HPMI, we believe education extends far beyond academic achievement. Our purpose is to help every child grow into a confident, disciplined, responsible and compassionate individual — equipped not only with knowledge, but with the ability to think, communicate, lead and make thoughtful decisions.
We place strong emphasis on conceptual understanding. Students are encouraged to understand why and how, ask questions, explore ideas and connect what they learn with the world around them. While memorisation has its place in certain academic requirements, particularly as students prepare for board examinations, we believe that lasting learning begins with genuine understanding.
The Teacher as a Guide, Mentor and Friend
Our teachers play different but equally important roles as children grow.
In the Pre-Primary and Primary years, the teacher becomes a nurturing presence — almost a second mother — helping children feel secure while building strong academic, social and emotional foundations. In the later years, the teacher gradually becomes a guide, mentor and friend, encouraging students to become increasingly independent thinkers.
We believe that a teacher only needs a curious student. Curiosity opens the door to questioning, exploration and meaningful learning, and our classrooms strive to create an environment where students are encouraged to ask, discover and participate.
Strong Foundations Through Individual Attention
We recognise that every child learns differently. With a student-teacher ratio of approximately 25:1, we strive to create an environment where students receive meaningful attention and support.
This is particularly emphasised in the Primary years, where two teachers work with the class to help establish strong academic foundations and address individual learning needs.
APPROX. 25 : 1 STUDENT-TEACHER RATIOEducation That Builds Character
Character Matters
Academic success is important, but we believe it is only one part of a child's development.
Strong Character
We believe a student may have different academic strengths, but strong character is non-negotiable. Education should help children become not only capable learners, but good human beings.
Preparing Students for a Digital World
Technology is an integral part of the world our children are growing up in. We therefore believe that every student should develop an appropriate understanding of technology and learn to engage with the digital world confidently and responsibly.
Technology at HPMI is viewed as a tool for learning and preparation for the future, complementing rather than replacing the teacher, classroom interaction and real-world experiences.
